Easter Parade Part 2 (Projects 32-34)

I'm just a few weeks late with getting these posted.  I've been in a bit of a funk lately and haven't felt like posting.  But here are a few more Easter cards involving one of my newest crafty obsessions - little dies.  These cards are inspired by the wonder scene created by Kittie.  I've been lurking on her blog: kittiekraft


This one is the first card I made creating a scene with dies.

 

The base is watercolor paper that I colored with Distress Inks.  All the pieces were colored with chalk, except the eggs. The chalk has a shimmer to it.  The eggs were stamped with brilliance ink and colored with Spica glitter pens.  The egg stamp is by Studio G.  To create the frame, I used a Nesties oval die.  I actually cut the frame before I started creating the scene so I could use it to make sure everything was in the frame.  I stamped the images (by My Favorite Things) in the corners with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I inked it up with Distress Ink in Dried Marigold.

Yep, I put a single micro bead in the center of the flowers.

For this one, I colored the sky, grass, and flowers with Distress Ink - Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, Dried Marigold, Spun Sugar, and Worn Lipstick.  The eggs were stamped with Brillance Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then colored them with chalk.  The basket, bunny and chick were colored with chalk too.  The frame was down with a Nesties label die and the stamp is by My Favorite Things.

Yep, that's a squirrel with the Easter basket.  I gave this one to my mom's friend that got her involved in wild life rehab.  I used Distress Inks on the sky, grass and flowers: Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Pine Needles, Mowed Lawn, Shaded Lilac, Ripe Persimmon, and Peacock Feather (I think).  The eggs were done the same as on the last one.

Chalk Popping Easter

Today's cards were made for the Oldies Challenge over at Artsy Inkers hosted by Stampwilly at Stampwilly Designs. 

I stamped the eggs (Studio G) with Versamark and added chalk. I used a Fiskar corner punch.  It is an embossing punch.  Depending on how much pressure you apply when you punch determines if it will emboss or not.  So for the shimmery paper mats, I pressed down extra hard to get the embossing. 

The band on the left side is one of my favorite ways to use ribbon.  You start by cutting a piece of paper to 1.5 by 4 inches.  Then you add pieces of ribbon on the diagonal until the piece of paper is covered.  I've used my tape gun in the past when making this, but this time, I used a red tape sheet.  So much easier.  This is a great way to use snippets of ribbon, but I did not use snippets of ribbon this time.  That's because I really loved the look of the March's Really Reasonable Ribbon Club pack.  So I used the ribbon from it.

When I got done assembling the cards, they needed something.  So I stamped the sentiment by My Favorite Things with Versamark and added chalk.

I didn't realize until I was photoing the cards that I used the wrong punch for the mats for the pink egg.  Whoops.

 

 

I used snippets of white cardstock to create the ribbon band.  All of the black cardstock are snippets and the green and blue shimmer paper are snippets.

Squirrels! and a Thank You. (Projects 7, 8, and 9)

I’ll start with the thank you.  Ms. Di over at Pixie’s Snippets Playground featured my Autumn Greetings card.  Thank you so much, Ms. Di.  I felt so special.  Now on to the cards:

 

So I have a fair number of squirrel stamps because my mother is affectionately known as the crazy squirrel lady.  She does wildlife rehab and has rehabilitated and released many squirrels over the years.  She currently has a permanent resident of a three legged squirrel named Tripod Nubbins.  So I’ve accumulated many squirrel stamps.

 

Card 1

 

I stamped the squirrel with Hero Arts Shadow ink in Just Right and layered it on textured cardstock squares, putting the brown square at an angle.  The top is actually orange but it looks more yellow in the picture. The purple textured cardstock is punched with a Fiskar border punch and I stamped the sentiment with the HA Just Right Shadow ink.  It still needed something, so I took the pieces punched out of the purple and attached three to the top corner. (Do they count as snippets?) I’ve got tons of little ziplock baggies full of the punched bits from when I use border punches.  I’m such a pack rat; I can't throw the bits out. I figure I'll use them eventually.  So at least I used a few on this one. The rest went in a baggie.

The squirrel is an Inkadinkado stamp and the sentiment is by TPC Studio.

 

Card 2

 

This little guy is a digital stamp by A Day for Daisies.  I used my silhouette to print him and then cut the shape out.  I colored him with chalk and sprayed with a sealer.  The pattern paper I found in a paper storage container I bought when I first started card making, about seven years ago, and that I uncovered when I was organizing my papers a couple of months ago.  So I’ve probably had this paper that long.  I originally planned on adding some paper flowers to this piece, but I just wasn’t feeling it.  I decided to leave this one fairly simple.

 

Card 3

 

For this one, I stamped the image on X-press It paper with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I stamped the big acorn on a snippet of X-Press It paper with Memento Rich Cocoa and the acorn hat on a snippet with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I colored the images with Copics (the list of colors are at the bottom of this post) and a silver metallic color pencil.  I fussy cut the acorns with my Fiskar fingertip craft knife.  I love that thing for fussy cutting.  It takes a little getting used to but once you do, the control is amazing.  I popped the large acorn with foam squares but I just glued the hat on flat.  I wanted a little dimension but I was afraid popping it up would hide the squirrel's eyes.  The stamps are by Inky Antics.  The pattern paper and textured cardstock are from my stash.
